In the Bodrum district of Muğla, 5 friends who lost their way back after dark at Akvaryum Bay, where they had come for a holiday, and were stranded on a steep and forested terrain, were rescued by teams after a 3-hour effort.
The incident occurred around 21:30 in Akvaryum Bay, Bitez Neighborhood. The 5 friends, who had gone swimming and started their return in the evening, lost their way as it got dark. Upon the report of the young people stranded in the forested and bushy area on the steep slope, police, Coast Guard, SAR Search and Rescue, and Neighborhood Disaster Volunteers Emergency Response Association (MAG-AME) teams were dispatched to the region.
THEIR HEALTH CONDITIONS ARE GOOD
Teams, who launched operations from land and sea, overcoming the rugged and rocky terrain despite harsh natural conditions, reached the area where the 5 stranded people were located after approximately 3 hours. The 5 young people, whose health conditions were found to be good, were safely evacuated from the area and brought to Bitez Port. After examinations there, it was determined that there was no negative issue with their health conditions.
Thanking the teams, Kutay Tacal said, "We went to Akvaryum Bay for a swim. Afterward, we decided to take a different route, which was a mistake. Our phones were running low on battery, and since we didn't have a flashlight, we couldn't find our way back after dark and got lost. The teams were very helpful and guided us very well."
