CHP Edirne Deputy Ahmet Baran Yazgan was beaten over an alleged harassment at his birthday celebration. While the repercussions of the incident continue, a notable comment on the matter also came from CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu.

The incident in a house in Edirne, which resulted in the beating of CHP Edirne Deputy Ahmet Baran Yazgan, prompted action from the CHP headquarters. After the suspects at the house claimed the fight broke out over Yazgan's sexually suggestive remarks toward a woman and his statement that he "wanted to be with her," and after the footage of the incident spread on social media, CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu delivered a very harsh response.

"THE FOOTAGE THAT EMERGED IS UNACCEPTABLE"

According to journalist Olgun Kızıltepe's report; CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, deeply disturbed by the footage reflected in the press and social media, clearly stated his stance on the scandal. Emphasizing the stance within the party, Kılıçdaroğlu said, "The footage that emerged is unacceptable, and I was extremely uncomfortable watching it. When we said change and purification, this is exactly what we meant—standing against this degeneration. Anyone who casts a shadow over the unblemished history of the Republican People's Party has no place, and cannot have a place, under this roof."

BEING EXPELLED FROM THE PARTY

CHP Deputy Chairman and Party Spokesperson Müslim Sarı also announced in a statement on his social media account that the process for Yazgan's expulsion from the party had been initiated. In his post, Sarı said, "Within the framework of our party's fundamental principles, bylaws, and disciplinary provisions, Edirne Deputy Ahmet Baran Yazgan has been referred to the disciplinary board as of today with a request for 'definitive expulsion' as a precautionary measure."

3 PEOPLE IN CUSTODY

As part of the investigation, 3 people found at the house where the incident occurred and involved in the fight were taken into custody. In their statements, the suspects claimed the fight broke out due to Yazgan's sexually suggestive remarks toward a woman at the house.

FOOTAGE INCLUDED IN INVESTIGATION FILE

Additionally, it was learned that mobile phone footage of the moment of the beating has been included in the investigation file and that the examination of digital materials is ongoing. It was reported that Yazgan, who did not give a statement to the police, has been invited to the Edirne Chief Public Prosecutor's Office to give his statement.
