A complaint from neighborhood residents in Istanbul's Ataşehir district about a foul odor spreading in the area revealed a 'trash house'. Authorities and cleaning teams removed a total of 5 truckloads of garbage and waste materials from the apartment.

Ataşehir Municipality Police Department teams took action following complaints about a strong odor spreading from an address on Alanaldı Street in İçerenköy District. Upon arriving at the specified address, the teams found the apartment filled with garbage.

After the inspections, legal proceedings were initiated, and municipal cleaning teams joined the efforts to evacuate the house. A large amount of waste materials, plastic bottles, and unused old items, understood to have been accumulated in the house for a long time, were removed by cleaning staff. During the evacuation work, security measures were taken on the street, and tons of garbage removed from the house were loaded onto municipal trucks and taken away from the area.

"A TRUCKLOAD OF GARBAGE CAME FROM EVERY ROOM"

İlhan Karagöl, a neighborhood resident stating that the woman living in the house had been collecting recycling materials from the streets for about 10 years, said: "The lady had been collecting bins and PET bottles from the garbage around here for about 10 years. She accumulated them at home; almost a truckload of garbage came out of every room. The neighbors were disturbed by the smell and reported it. Teams arrived and are emptying the garbage inside. There is quite an intense smell inside; the neighbors were very bothered. A total of 5 truckloads of garbage came out of the house."

It was learned that municipal teams will carry out pest control and disinfection work in the house after the evacuation process.
