In the flood disaster that struck Nepal's regions near the border with China, the death toll has risen to 538, while more than 1,300 people are still unaccounted for. It has been reported that due to the continued recovery of lifeless bodies, morgues are running out of space, and temporary facilities are being set up.

SEARCH AND RESCUE OPERATIONS SPREAD TO 7 REGIONS
According to the latest statements made by Nepal's National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, the disaster's toll is worsening every day. According to Kathmandu Post, the number of those who lost their lives after being swept away by floodwaters has risen to 538. Since the waters have dragged lifeless bodies for kilometers, search and rescue operations are not limited to the epicenter of the disaster, Rasuwa; they have also been intensified in the Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha, Tanahun, Chitwan, and Nawalparasi regions. Continuous shipments are being made by helicopters to the disaster area, where dozens of bridges have been destroyed and roads have been severely damaged.
MISSING NUMBER EXCEEDS 1,300, MORGUES ARE FULL
Officials speaking to the Associated Press (AP) stated that there is still no news from more than 1,300 people who were swept away by floodwaters and that foreign nationals are among the missing. It was reported that due to bodies being constantly recovered from the water, morgues in the disaster zones have completely reached capacity, and therefore, temporary facilities are urgently being built. On the other hand, the destructive impact of the disaster crossed the Chinese border; the death toll from floods in the Tibet Autonomous Region has risen to 5.
"THE CAUSE OF THE SEISMIC ACTIVITY IS NOT AN EARTHQUAKE, BUT AN AVALANCHE"
The United States Geological Survey, which initially announced that a 5.2 magnitude earthquake had occurred in the region in the early moments of the disaster, updated its data and noted that the source of the seismic activity was a massive glacial collapse. Experts from the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), based in Kathmandu, also confirmed this data, emphasizing that an avalanche triggered by huge glacial chunks breaking off from the mountainous area laid the groundwork for the disaster and led to devastating floods.
