FLOOD AFTER ORANGE-CODE WARNING
After the General Directorate of Meteorology's orange-code warning, a flood occurred yesterday in Bezgede Neighborhood in the district due to a downpour. The struggle of Güllü Karahanlı, who was trying to clear the floodwaters with the axe in her hand to protect her house and greenhouse, was captured on camera.
SHE CLEARED THE BLOCKAGE IN FRONT OF THE WATER BY CRAWLING
Describing what happened during the incident, Karahanlı said, "Every year there is a flood in front of my house when it rains, and I put up this fight every year when it rains heavily. During the flow, when the water's path gets blocked, it has to be opened this way. Because I have difficulty standing, I crawled and cleared the debris blocking the water. Meanwhile, a child from across the way said, 'Auntie Hajji, the flood will sweep you away,' but I said, 'It is a disaster sent by God; praise be to God, I can lift it.' After the child said, 'Auntie, don't bother, you can't get through,' I struggled a while longer and, holding on to the poles, barely made it back. My shoe was also swept away by the water."
