Nazar S., an 8-year-old girl who was kidnapped by her father in Bursa and held captive for 7 years in a ruined house before being rescued in a police operation and whose custody was given to her mother, was seen at her home in Germany where she will live with her mother and sister. Nazar, walking in the garden, was observed curiously examining the items and toys in the room prepared for her.

Umut K. (33), born to a Turkish mother and German father, started living together with Rebecca S. (30), whom he met in Germany where he was born and raised. The couple had a son in 2018 whom they named 'Nazar'. A year later, Umut K. came to the Mustafakemalpaşa district of Bursa with his German girlfriend to visit his mother Hanife S. (60), who had remarried after leaving his father. Not wanting to return to Germany due to an arrest warrant for 'drug trafficking', Umut K. did not allow his girlfriend to take their son and go back. Umut K. abducted his 1-year-old son Nazar S. by telling Rebecca S., who did not want to stay in Turkey, that the boy had gone missing. Rebecca S. filed a complaint with the police and returned to her country, while an investigation into the incident was launched.

FOUND 7 YEARS LATER BY A 6-MEMBER SPECIAL TEAM

Umut K. died of a heart attack 2 years ago, while the Mustafakemalpaşa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation to find the missing child. As part of the investigation led by Chief Public Prosecutor Yusuf Canik, a 6-member special team formed from the Robbery Bureau, Homicide Bureau, and Missing Persons Bureau under the Bursa Provincial Police Department, upon the instruction of Bursa Police Chief Kadir Gökce, found Nazar, who had been untraceable for 7 years, after 30 days of technical and physical surveillance and reviewing 300 hours of camera footage, in a ruined house where he was being held by his paternal grandmother. In an operation on March 10, the little child was rescued, while the grandmother Hanife S. and the owner of the house, Recai M., Umut K.'s cousin, were taken into custody and arrested.

DNA TEST CONFIRMED SHE IS HIS MOTHER

Nazar S. was taken under protection by the Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services. Upon hearing the news, Rebecca S. came to Bursa from Germany and saw her child for the first time in 7 years. A DNA test conducted on March 19 confirmed that Nazar, who said 'mom' for the first time, was Rebecca S.'s son. The DNA report showed a 99.99% match.

HANDED OVER TO HIS MOTHER

Custody of Nazar S., a German citizen, was granted to his mother Rebecca S. in a hearing at the Mustafakemalpaşa Family Court on April 28, following examinations and research considering his best interests. In the case, where Rebecca S.'s lawyer connected via e-hearing through the Ministry of Justice's CELSE application, it was decided to return Germany-born Nazar S. to the Federal Republic of Germany, where his habitual residence was, and to hand the child over to his mother Rebecca S., while the travel ban abroad and passport restrictions were also lifted. Nazar was handed over to his mother Rebecca S., who came to Bursa from Germany on April 29, after the court notification reached the Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services, where he was under temporary protection.

WILL CONTINUE HIS LIFE WITH HIS MOTHER AND SISTER

After the mother and son left the Bursa Children's Homes, they went to İzmir to handle Nazar's passport procedures at the German Consulate General in İzmir. Nazar, captured on camera by a DHA reporter at the Bursa Intercity Bus Terminal while waiting for the bus departure time, went to Germany after completing his procedures in İzmir.

WELCOMED BY HIS GRANDMOTHER AT THE AIRPORT

Nazar, who will continue his life in Germany with his mother and his sister Emilia Zafira, whom he met for the first time on April 6 at the Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services, was seen for the first time in his home in that country. Reportedly welcomed by his grandmother at the airport, the child went to his home where he will live with his mother and sister. After walking in the garden and examining the surroundings for a while, Nazar said he was cold and went inside, where the door area was decorated with balloons and a banner reading 'Welcome home' in German.

CURIOUSLY EXAMINED THE ITEMS AND TOYS IN HIS ROOM

As soon as he entered, Nazar asked if there was a fireplace and walked around the house with his mother, curiously examining the room he will share with his sister Emilia. Those moments were captured on a mobile phone by a relative of the family. Nazar picked up the toys prepared for him on the bed on the lower bunk of the bunk bed and played, while hats bought for the little child to wear were seen hanging on the walls of the room.

Nazar S., who started primary school on April 27 at the Bursa Children's Homes where he was under temporary protection, will learn reading and writing at the school he will attend in Germany and will receive education in German.
