The tradition of collective animal sacrifice and equal sharing, ongoing for nearly a century in the Doski region of Hakkari's Yüksekova district, was continued this holiday. The meat of 140 small livestock was distributed to all households without distinction between rich and poor.

The tradition of mass animal sacrifice and meat sharing, which has been carried out for about a century in the Doski region of Hakkari's Yuksekova district, was also kept alive this holiday. The meat of 140 sacrificed animals was distributed equally to the entire village.

140 SACRIFICIAL ANIMALS WERE SLAUGHTERED

Residents of the Halilava neighborhood of Adakli village, which has 150 households and a population of about 2,000 in the Doski region, slaughtered their sacrificial animals in the designated area after the Eid al-Adha prayer. The meat of 140 small livestock, slaughtered collectively by villagers who gathered in the village square, was collected at a single point. The sacrificial meat, meticulously cut and divided into equal portions by designated village residents, was distributed to all households in the village without distinction between rich and poor.

MEAT WAS DISTRIBUTED EQUALLY

Imam Sidik Metin, one of the village elders, said they have continued this inherited tradition of solidarity without interruption for a century. Emphasizing that the tradition reinforces unity and togetherness in line with the spirit of the holiday, Metin said, "We have been maintaining this tradition for about a century. Both those who sacrifice and those who do not benefit from this sharing. We continue this solidarity inherited from our ancestors today. About 140 small livestock were sacrificed this holiday. We divided the meat of the sacrificed animals equally and distributed it to all households. We give equal meat to everyone, without discriminating between rich and poor."
