In the USA, 21-year-old soldier Jayden Fox was caught in a hotel room with a 12-year-old girl he met online. Police, who reached the hotel by tracking the child's phone signal, arrested Fox on charges of rape, and bail was set at $2 million.
An investigation that began with the search for a missing 12-year-old girl in the US state of Ohio has resulted in the arrest of 21-year-old US soldier Jayden Fox.
Montville police launched an effort to find the 12-year-old girl, who was reported to have fled from the city of Willowick on August 14. Teams tracked the signal from the child's cell phone and arrived at a hotel in Montville Township.
MET ONLINE, TRAVELED HUNDREDS OF MILES
According to the police investigation, Jayden Fox, from Palatka, Florida, met the child online.
It was determined that Fox, who serves in the US Army, was on four-day leave at the time of the incident and traveled from Fort Bragg in North Carolina to the Willowick area of Ohio to pick up the 12-year-old. Fox then moved on to Montville Township with the child.
PHONE SIGNAL LED TO THE HOTEL
Police teams tracked the location of the missing child's cell phone and arrived at a hotel. The 12-year-old was found in a hotel room rented by Fox.
While the child was safely returned to their family, Fox was taken into custody based on information obtained at the scene.
ARRESTED ON RAPE CHARGES
The 21-year-old soldier has been charged with rape, a first-degree felony. Fox was sent to the Medina County Jail, and bail was set at $2 million.
Police stated that the investigation is not yet complete and reported that additional charges could be filed against Fox depending on new evidence obtained.
Authorities are working jointly with the Medina County Prosecutor's Office and other agencies to uncover all aspects of the incident.
