381,750 euros hidden inside baby diapers were seized in the luggage of a passenger arriving at Antalya Airport from Paris, the capital of France. The undeclared cash, worth over 20 million Turkish lira, was confiscated, and legal proceedings were initiated against the suspect passenger under the Anti-Smuggling Law.
During a search of the luggage of a passenger arriving from Paris to Antalya, customs teams seized a total of 381,750 euros hidden inside baby diapers. The Ministry of Trade announced that millions of liras in cash, intended to be brought into the country undeclared, were confiscated in this operation conducted as part of the fight against smuggling.
CAUGHT THANKS TO THE VIGILANCE OF CUSTOMS ENFORCEMENT TEAMS
Customs enforcement teams of the Ministry of Trade carried out risk analysis and passenger monitoring at Antalya Airport as part of anti-smuggling activities. In the operation scrutinized by the Antalya Customs Enforcement Anti-Smuggling and Intelligence Directorate, the luggage of a foreign passenger landing in Antalya from France's Paris Airport was deemed suspicious and taken to a checkpoint.
HID OVER 20 MILLION LIRAS IN BABY DIAPERS
Teams conducting a detailed search of the passenger's luggage encountered an unbelievable concealment method in the packages they opened. Stacks of euro banknotes were found carefully hidden inside baby diapers. After counting, it was determined that the seized money amounted to exactly 381,750 euros, with its Turkish lira equivalent reaching 20 million 428 thousand 129 TL.
LEGAL PROCESS INITIATED UPON REFERRAL TO THE COURTHOUSE
Teams confiscated the fortune-sized cash that was attempted to be smuggled through customs gates without declaration. Following the incident, the suspect passenger was taken into custody, and a comprehensive investigation was launched by the Antalya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office under Law No. 5607 on the Fight against Smuggling.
