A person working at a furniture workshop in Ümraniye, Istanbul, encountered a hand grenade when he opened a suspicious bag he found among the trees in front of the workplace. Upon the worker's report, police teams arrived at the scene and took security measures in the area, while an investigation was launched to determine who left the hand grenade.
G.T., who works at a furniture workshop located in the Necip Fazıl Neighborhood of the Ümraniye district of Istanbul, noticed a suspicious bag while he wanted to get materials from among the trees right in front of the door of his workplace.
WHEN HE SAW WHAT WAS INSIDE THE BAG, HE CALLED THE POLICE
The employee, who opened the bag and checked it, reported the situation to the police when he saw that there was a hand grenade inside. Upon the report, security forces arrived at the scene shortly and took security precautions in the area. While police teams carried out a detailed examination at the scene, it was learned that the investigation regarding the hand grenade found is ongoing.
“THE TEAMS CAME AND STARTED THE EXAMINATION, THEY TOOK OUR FINGERPRINTS”
G.T., who found the hand grenade, said, “A hand grenade was found among the trees in front of my workplace, and I notified the police teams. The teams came and started the examination, they took our fingerprints. I am a furniture manufacturer. While buying trees or carrying out operations to cut them, I saw that bag there and when I checked inside, I determined that it was a hand grenade, and I notified the security forces.”
