In the Havran district of Balıkesir, a harvest was carried out from an olive tree that has borne fruit for a thousand years. Within the scope of the 3rd Edremit Olive Oil Tasting Festival, the collected olives were pressed without waiting and turned into oil, while participants had the opportunity to taste the olive oil from the thousand-year-old tree. At the festival, a collective olive oil tasting record was also broken with the participation of 16,002 people.

One of the most notable events of the 3rd Edremit Olive Oil Tasting Festival was the harvest event held at a thousand-year-old olive tree in Havran.

PRESSED WITHOUT DELAY

At the event organized within the festival, the olives collected from the ancient olive tree that has been yielding fruit for a thousand years were pressed without delay and olive oil was obtained. Participants had the opportunity to taste the fresh olive oil obtained from the fruit of the thousand-year-old tree.

Ahmet Çetin, Chairman of the Edremit Chamber of Commerce, stating that the thousand-year-old olive tree represents the region's olive-growing culture and history, said, "Today we have shared together the flavor and healing that this ancient tree has offered for a thousand years. We tasted the oil we obtained by immediately pressing the harvested olives. This was a very special and meaningful event for us."

A RECORD WAS BROKEN WITH THE PARTICIPATION OF 16,002 PEOPLE

Stating that they achieved significant successes in the third year of the festival, Çetin said that the collective olive oil tasting record was also broken with the participation of 16,002 people at the event held a day earlier.

Çetin, stating that they aim to increase Edremit's worldwide recognition for olives and olive oil, thanked everyone who contributed to the festival.

The harvest from the thousand-year-old olive tree was attended by AK Party Balıkesir MP Mustafa Canbey, Edremit District Governor Zafer Engin, Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Akın, Edremit Mayor Mehmet Ertaş, Havran Mayor Emin Ersoy, and many guests.
