A tanker underway in the Bosphorus caused dangerous moments due to an engine failure. Rescue teams were mobilized for the 110-meter ship, which was at risk of going out of control off Kanlıca and narrowly escaped running aground. While passing through the Bosphorus, a chemical tanker that suffered an engine failure had to anchor off Kanlıca. Rescue teams were dispatched to the area to intervene in the 110-meter-long tanker, which was reported to have narrowly escaped running aground, while ship traffic in the Bosphorus was temporarily suspended.

BROKE DOWN OFF KANLICA

A Malta-flagged chemical tanker named Ivyan, 110 meters long and sailing from Bulgaria to Italy, suffered an engine failure while passing through the Bosphorus. The tanker, carrying approximately 6,000 tons of vegetable oil, anchored off Kanlıca due to the failure.

RESCUE TEAMS DISPATCHED

After the breakdown report, Coast Guard teams, along with the tugboats Kurtarma 7 and Kurtarma 11 belonging to the Directorate General of Coastal Safety, and the Tahlisiye 9 lifeboat were directed to the area.

Due to the incident, ship traffic in the Bosphorus was temporarily stopped. It was reported that the tanker would be secured in the Küçükçekmece anchorage area after the necessary safety measures were taken.
