TRNC President Tufan Erhürman, in a statement after being discharged from the hospital where he was taken after falling ill yesterday, said his health condition is good. Erhürman said, "I got a bit lucky. By coincidence, a guest before me fell ill. The ambulance was called for him. As the guest recovered and the ambulance was about to leave, I fell ill. It came back within two minutes. It was important that the ambulance arrived immediately while the pain persisted."

President Tufan Erhürman of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), in a statement following his discharge from the hospital where he was taken after falling ill yesterday, said his health condition is good, tests showed no evidence of a heart attack, and doctors are focusing on the possibility of a coronary spasm.

STATEMENT FROM ERHÜRMAN AFTER DISCHARGE

TRNC President Tufan Erhürman, who fell ill during an exhibition organized by the Presidency last night and was taken by ambulance to Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital, was discharged in the morning hours. Erhürman made statements regarding his health condition.

"CERTAIN THAT IT WAS NOT A HEART ATTACK"

Stating that all tests came back clean, Erhürman said regarding the doctors' initial assessment, "The lab results are very good. Everything is clean. Something like a spasm. It's certain that it was not a heart attack. Doctors think it might have been a coronary spasm." Describing how the discomfort started suddenly, Erhürman said, "Suddenly a pain spread to my back. I started sweating, cold sweating. My vision went dark. They measured my blood pressure, it was 60. I am a hypertension patient. My pulse also dropped significantly. All indicators pointed to something related to the heart." Emphasizing that the angiogram performed at the hospital came back clean, Erhürman stated, "Thank God the angiogram was very clean. The lab results are also very good. The test for values indicating a heart attack came back negative. So it's certain that it was not a heart attack." Expressing that according to the doctors' assessment, the discomfort he experienced might be a mild coronary spasm, Erhürman said, "They think it's a coronary spasm. It seems like a minor coronary spasm."

"THE IMMEDIATE ARRIVAL OF THE AMBULANCE WAS IMPORTANT"

Erhürman also noted that the ambulance happened to be at the event site when he fell ill, and said, "I was a bit lucky. We were at the old Presidential Palace. Coincidentally, a guest had fallen ill before me. The ambulance had been called for them. When the guest recovered, the ambulance was about to leave, and I fell ill. It came back within two minutes. While that pain persisted, the immediate arrival of the ambulance was important." Stating that health checks were completed and no negative findings were detected, Erhürman said, "We took this as an opportunity. We even had check-ups we normally wouldn't. We saw that everything is clean. Thank God, there is no problem. I suppose some rest is needed."
