The statement mentioned that teams from RTE and Enedis, the organization responsible for the country's electricity line infrastructure and maintenance, are working to restore electricity as soon as possible, and an apology was issued for the inconvenience caused.
A HIGH VOLTAGE LINE POLE COLLAPSED
According to reports in the French press, RTE stated that the collapse of a pole belonging to a high voltage line caused this power outage. RTE noted that a fire at an electricity transformer around Cannes during the night weakened the electricity network.
CANNES FILM SCREENING INTERRUPTED
The power outage, which also affected the 78th Cannes Film Festival, interrupted the screening of the film "Sirat." Since 10:00 local time, traffic lights in the affected cities have not been functioning, making transportation difficult. It was stated that the closing ceremony of the festival this evening would take place without any issues thanks to a generator.
