In recent years, Turkey, which has made significant discoveries in the oil and natural gas sector, continues to receive cooperation offers from energy-rich countries. In this context, Libya, a country rich in oil and gas resources, has offered a partnership to Turkey.

The Libyan Minister of Oil and Gas, Halife Receb Abdussadık, stated that they see Turkey as an energy hub, saying, "A significant portion of the natural gas going to Europe passes through Turkey. It also has advanced technologies in renewable energy. We want to take advantage of these opportunities and see Turkey as a strategic partner in all areas of energy."

Minister Abdussadık mentioned that Turkey is one of his country's strategic partners. He recalled participating in the Istanbul Energy Forum held in November 2024, where he made some evaluations and discussed cooperation opportunities with his Turkish counterpart, Alparslan Bayraktar.

Abdussadık expressed that they invited Turkey to do more business in Libya, stating, "We want to develop our existing collaborations and especially do more business in offshore areas. We are currently announcing our field tender (for oil and natural gas exploration). There is great potential and significant opportunities for many projects we can work on together." he said.

AN INVITATION FOR THE RENEWABLE ENERGY SECTOR

Abdussadık conveyed that their invitation to Turkey is not limited to hydrocarbon resources, but also includes innovative energy sources as well as renewable energy. He noted: "Libya has a strategic position in terms of solar energy. We receive a large amount of sunlight for a significant part of the year. This makes Libya a country that offers great opportunities for renewable energy investments. Additionally, we believe that the extensive coastline we have could also provide significant potential for wind energy and hydrogen. Turkey is one of the international partners we are considering for some of these projects." Minister Abdussadık also stated that they are evaluating opportunities with Turkey, holding regular meetings in this context, and are very hopeful about the future.
