In the Hekimhan district of Malatya, in the case against the detained defendant Alican Kızılay, who shot his 8-month pregnant wife Beste Kızılay in the head with a gun, causing the death of both his wife and their unborn baby, the prosecutor presented his opinion on the merits of the case. While the threat messages retrieved from the phone, unlocked by facial recognition technology, were chilling, the prosecution requested that the defendant be sentenced to life imprisonment for the "intentional murder of his wife."

In the Hekimhan district of Malatya, during the trial of the detained defendant Alican Kızılay, who shot and killed his 8-month pregnant wife Beste Kızılay with a gun, the prosecutor presented his opinion, requesting that the defendant be sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment for the crime of 'intentional murder of a spouse.'

"DID MY DAUGHTER THROW HER HEAD AT THE BULLET?"

The words of the grieving father Ahmet Fuat Özhan, who cried out after the hearing, broke hearts. Reacting to the defendant's defense of "I loved my wife, it was an accident," the father called out for justice:

"A person who loves their spouse does not point a gun at them. In 10 days, your child would have been in your arms; what was that gun doing next to a pregnant woman? Now they say 'I didn't shoot on purpose.' Did my daughter go and throw her head at the bullet? This is not love; this is outright murder!"

THE PHONE'S PASSWORD WAS BYPASSED WITH FACE RECOGNITION: THREAT MESSAGES EMERGED

A critical development occurred in the trial that would change its course. The defendant's phone, which could not be unlocked due to its password, was opened in court using a face recognition system. In the preliminary examinations entered into the file, messages in which Beste received severe insults, slurs, and death threats from her husband weeks before the murder were read one by one. Beste's family was brought to tears as they listened to the psychological violence their daughter had endured.

PROSECUTOR EMPHASIZES "INTENTIONAL MURDER"

The prosecutor, who presented his opinion, rejected the defendant's defense of "negligence" (accident), stating that the act constituted the crime of "intentional murder against a spouse and a woman." A prison sentence was also requested for the defendant's family (mother, father, and siblings), who are accused of attempting to destroy evidence.

THE DAY OF DECISION IS APPROACHING

The court panel rejected the request for an on-site inspection, postponing the hearing to April 29 for the preparation of the full image report of the phone and final defenses. The Özhan family's lawyers expressed that they expect justice to be served in the next session and for all responsible parties to receive the heaviest penalties.
