Karabük Governor Mustafa Yavuz stated that the incident occurred around 6:00 PM at a jewelry store, saying, "Today, around 6:00 PM, a robbery was carried out at one of our jewelry stores in Safranbolu by three masked individuals armed with guns. First of all, let me say this. Our greatest consolation and joy is that no citizen was harmed. The safety of our employees, citizens, and tradespeople is our greatest consolation," he said.
Governor Yavuz noted that search and rescue operations were ongoing in the area where the suspects fled, stating: "Three masked and armed individuals entered our jewelry store. After incapacitating our three employees by forcing them to the ground, they attempted to escape with some jewelry they had filled their bags with. Following the pursuit by our security forces and citizens, two bags filled with the gold and jewelry they had stolen were seized by our police in the area they fled to."

Governor Yavuz assessed that all three attackers were armed, stating, "Right now, we are narrowing the area by blocking all routes they could escape through, including village roads and main roads, with all our forces from the police department and the gendarmerie. Our special operations police are also coming. The geography is a canyon area, with some caves and green valleys, and water in the region. The special operations will conduct the necessary searches and sweeps there. God willing, we will catch these individuals and bring them to justice in a short time." he said.
