During asphalt work in the Yeşilyurt district of Malatya, municipal worker Ahmet Baştürk (50) was seriously injured after being crushed under a construction machine. He could not be saved at the hospital where he was taken, and his death brought his colleagues to tears. The machine operator was taken into custody regarding the incident, and an investigation has been launched.
Municipal worker Ahmet Baştürk (50) lost his life after being trapped under a construction machine during road works in the Yeşilyurt district of Malatya.
The accident occurred in the Özalper neighborhood in the morning hours. During asphalt work carried out by Yeşilyurt Municipality teams, municipal worker Ahmet Baştürk was trapped under a construction machine. Upon notification by other workers who noticed the situation, health and police teams were dispatched to the area. After initial intervention by health teams, Baştürk was taken by ambulance to Malatya Training and Research Hospital. Ahmet Baştürk, who received treatment in the emergency department, could not be saved despite all interventions by doctors.
CO-WORKERS BURST INTO TEARS
His co-workers, who learned of Baştürk's death, were deeply saddened. While some workers could not hold back their tears, the construction machine operator was also seen unable to recover from the shock for a long time. Residents and those nearby tried to calm the operator.
CONSTRUCTION MACHINE DRIVER TAKEN INTO CUSTODY
Police teams cordoned off the area where the accident occurred, while crime scene investigation teams conducted detailed work in the region. Yeşilyurt Municipality officials also came to the scene and carried out inspections. Ahmet Baştürk's body was taken to the Malatya Forensic Medicine Institute for an autopsy. The construction machine driver was taken into custody, and the investigation continues.
