A new investigation into the murder of Narin Güran.

The statements of 6 people, 2 of whom are suspects, were taken regarding the allegations that a "proposal was made to take the blame" to Nevzat Bahtiyar, one of the arrested suspects in the murder of Narin Güran, who confessed to carrying the body to the stream. The statements were added to the case file of the trial held at the Diyarbakır 8th High Criminal Court.

The first hearing of the case regarding the murder of Narin Güran, whose lifeless body was found in a sack in the stream bed, covered with three stones weighing 30, 25, and 20 kilos, and hidden with bushes on the 19th day of the search efforts after she went missing on August 21 in the rural Tavşantepe neighborhood of the Bağlar district, was held on November 7 at the Diyarbakır 8th High Criminal Court. In the indictment prepared by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding 4 of the 12 suspects in custody, it was stated that Salim Güran, her uncle, who had DNA and hair samples belonging to Narin in his vehicle, her mother Yüksel Güran, and her brother Enes Güran were arrested, and it was noted that their neighbor Nevzat Bahtiyar, who confessed to carrying the body to the stream bed, was determined to have been in the same house at the time of the incident according to HTS and base station records. An aggravated life sentence was requested for the crime of "intentional murder of a child in participation." At the end of the three-day hearing, the court announced its interim decision, ruling that the suspects should remain in custody and adjourned the hearing to December 26.

APPLIED WITH A PETITION

Ibrahim Bahtiyar, the son of Nevzat Bahtiyar, submitted a petition to the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on November 11, claiming that the Güran family, through H. K., was asked for his father to take the blame in exchange for the transfer of a house and a vehicle belonging to his uncle, which was registered under the Güran family's name. Ibrahim Bahtiyar also presented the audio recording of a phone conversation he had with H. K. regarding this claim. Regarding the allegations, the gendarmerie took statements from H. K. (65) and Ali Rıza Güran (65), the uncle of Salim Güran, as suspects, while Gazal (46), the wife of Nevzat Bahtiyar, and their children Ibrahim (20), F. B. (24), and daughter F. N. (27) were taken statements for information purposes.

"THE STATE WILL REVEAL EVERYTHING"

Ibrahim Bahtiyar, in his statement to the gendarmerie, said, "My sister F. N. lives with her family in the Çarıklı neighborhood. She came to my brother F.'s house in the Çarıklı neighborhood on October 27, 2024. While my brother F., and my mother Gazal Bahtiyar were in the room, H. K. called Ali Rıza Güran to him and here Ali Rıza Güran told H. K., 'Nevzat has already killed Narin. Let him accept his crime. The children can come to the house in the village, we will take care of them again. Let Nevzat take the blame, our children can be released, you go and convey this to Gazal and the children.' H. K. then conveyed this to my aunt G. K. G. K. also relayed this offer to F. N. over the phone. When my sister conveyed this incident to us at our home that day, my sister F. said, 'At 19:07, I called H. K.'s GSM line from the GSM line used by my brother H. B. I put the phone on speaker so that those present could hear. My mother Gazal started talking. After asking about each other's well-being, she asked if there was any offer of money. She told us, 'Ali Rıza Güran called me today, summoned me to the village. I went to the village and met with Ali Rıza Güran. He told me here, 'Nevzat has already killed, everything is clear, let him accept his crime, the children can come to the house in the village, we will take care of them, if necessary, we will support them.' My mother Gazal said, 'I will sacrifice them to Nevzat, are they going to deceive me with a house? They burned my husband's head. Let them rot in prison. Let my husband be released. Absolutely, absolutely, do not make such an offer to us. Is Ali Rıza Güran offering us a house? We do not accept.' When I confronted him, he said, 'I am just conveying what I was told.' I started talking to him. I said, 'There is a court on the 7th, the state will reveal everything. Why does Ali Rıza Güran say that?' He replied, 'I am a guest, I cannot talk much,' and hung up the phone."

"ALI RIZA GÜRAN SAID, 'TELL NEVZAT, IF HE DID IT, LET HIM ADMIT IT'"

H. K., who was taken as a suspect, stated that the wives of Nevzat Bahtiyar and Salim Güran were from their village and that they were relatives. H. K. stated that he was in Yalova when Narin went missing, saying, "Ali Rıza Güran said, 'If our guy did it, may God punish him.' Then he asked me, 'Who do you think did this?' I said, 'The state has taken over, they will find this out, but I suspect that Enes did it, Salim got into trouble while cleaning up.' When Ali Rıza Güran was seeing me off, he said, 'Nevzat's wife and Salim's wife are both your daughters. Tell Nevzat, if he did it, let him admit it. Tell his children and wife to come home, we will not interfere with them. We will take care of them, help them, and not harm them.' Later, I returned to the Batıkarakoç neighborhood. Here, I saw G. K. I told him what Ali Rıza Güran had conveyed. I said, 'I will not tell this to Gazal, if you want to say it, say it.' That evening, Gazal called me from her son's number, saying, 'I do not accept land or a house. How can Ali Rıza say such a thing?' I also told G. K. what I had said to Gazal. Then, when I said, 'Do not lie, the man did not say land or house,' her son Ibrahim said, 'Uncle, we will take you to the prosecutor's office, you will be written as a witness.' I said, 'I do not lie. Do not make me deal with the prosecutor's office,'" he said.

ALI RIZA GÜRAN DENIED THE ALLEGATIONS

Ali Rıza Güran, who was taken as a suspect, also stated, "After false claims and news emerged in the media regarding the relationship between Nevzat and his family and the wives of Salim Güran, Arif, and Hüseyin Güran, Hüseyin Güran told me, 'They are messing with our honor. Go tell Nevzat's wife not to bring this issue up and embarrass us further.' After this, I wanted to meet with M. K., who is Gazal Bahtiyar's uncle, but I could not reach him on his mobile phone, so I called H. K., my relative, and said, 'I have a request from you. You will go and tell them not to bring up our honor issue again, let them resolve this matter.' Other than that, no other issue was discussed regarding the incident.

H. K. said to me, "I have a request from you. Nevzat Bahtiyar's brother bought a vehicle from your nephew I. G., but he couldn't transfer it. I request your help regarding the transfer." I replied, "Your request is above my head, but what you said will happen in the future." The conversation ended this way. Apart from this, I absolutely do not accept the allegations made. A few days later, when I saw the baseless allegations regarding this on social media and national media, we filed a criminal complaint with the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office," he said.

"I TOLD HIM NOT TO MAKE SUCH AN OFFER"

Nevzat Bahtiyar's wife, Gazal Bahtiyar, also stated in her testimony that her daughter Fadile N. came to their house and mentioned that an offer was made to them through H. K. She said:

"We called H. K. and asked if there was such an offer. H. K. said that Ali Rıza Güran had called him to the Tavşantepe neighborhood and said, 'Go tell the family to let Nevzat take the blame. We will bring his family back to the village. We will meet all their needs. This incident should be closed.' I said that I would never accept such an offer, that I did not believe Nevzat killed Narin, that I would not be swayed by money, that I would not trade Nevzat for anything in the world, and that I told him not to make such an offer again."

TRANSCRIBED AUDIO RECORDINGS HAVE EMERGED

An audio recording presented by İbrahim Bahtiyar was transcribed and a report was prepared. The conversations between H. K. and Gazal Bahtiyar in the audio recordings are as follows:

• H. K.: Did you say yes?
• Gazal Bahtiyar: Yes.
• H. K.: I went there today, they talked about it here and there, Nevzat did it anyway.
• H. K. (regarding the claim that Ali Rıza Güran wanted him to convey to the Bahtiyar family): If he had said I did it, we would have brought them home, we would have given Gazal's house to Gazal. Can you tell them that? I can't tell them.
• Gazal Bahtiyar: If you had said, there is a fool in front of you. Let them do it, let them put it on him, let them give the house to Gazal. I would sacrifice that for Nevzat. I would sacrifice it for the soil under Nevzat's feet. I would sacrifice it for my 5-6 children. Am I going to be swayed by worldly possessions? They destroyed Nevzat's house, they set fire to it.
• H. K.: I said, the children told me. 'Let them give us the transfer of our car,' he said. The children said Memo. Their little brother said, 'Okay, the transfer of the car is not a problem. We will transfer it when the time comes.'
• Gazal Bahtiyar: I swear, even if my bones are in the air, I will not put that on Nevzat. They killed her, they killed their daughter, they put it on our neck. I swear, let him come to my neck, then let them send an offer.
• H. K.: They told me, and I said I would tell.
• Gazal Bahtiyar: Exactly, say it like that, let them watch their steps, let them not say words to me, uncle. They made this poor man rot in prison.
• H. K.: What can I say, may God not leave you without your rights.
• Gazal Bahtiyar: Amen. Amen.
• H. K.: What else can I say?
• Gazal Bahtiyar: This poor man had no idea about anything. Uncle, I was at home. He came, ate his meal, left, watered his trees, called him. Whatever he did, he put it on him.
• H. K.: The crime is his, Nevzat's right is death. Why did Nevzat take the bodies, hide them? If he had said, 'Why am I hiding them?'
• Gazal Bahtiyar: They threatened him, uncle, if they hadn't threatened him, would he have gone?
• H. K.: When he went; when a week was over, when he was arrested, if he had gone, he would have said, 'He forced me to do it.' He wouldn't have gone to prison.
• Gazal Bahtiyar: Where is the mind, what can I do? I swear, may Ali Rıza Güran not send their offers.
• H. K.: They told me, and I said. Memo said it next to me. I will give them the transfer of the car, I didn't say I would give them the transfer of the car.
• Gazal Bahtiyar: I'm not saying anything to you. I mean, let them not send offers with their words, what they said.
• H. K.: If they send news, you will say 'no.'
• Gazal Bahtiyar: I am giving it to the children.
• İbrahim Bahtiyar: Uncle, you tell them, the children said, their place is good. Whatever the state says, that is it. Didn't they say 'whatever the state says'?'
• H. K.: No, no, we didn't say anything, don't lie.
• İbrahim Bahtiyar: No, no, I'm saying on top of the word, uncle. You tell them, they said too. Whatever the state says. We said 'Whatever the state says.'
• H. K.: Whoever it is, the state will bring it to light.
• İbrahim Bahtiyar: Whoever is guilty, whatever punishment it is, whoever has done whatever, the state will bring everything to light, whatever the issue is, whatever is said, it will punish them. You tell them.
• H. K.: Okay, I am among the houses, people are around me, I can't talk much.
• İbrahim Bahtiyar: No problem. Whoever is in the incident.

On the other hand, the request for a site visit by Yüksel Güran's lawyer, Yılmaz Demir, was rejected by the court, stating that "the request is denied considering that there are video recordings regarding the places claimed to be the crime scene in the file."
