The deadly Ebola virus has crossed Africa's borders. The Israeli Ministry of Health announced that a person who returned from Congo four days ago went to Rambam Hospital with fever and headache complaints and became the first case to be quarantined on suspicion of Ebola.
In Israel, a person who returned from the Democratic Republic of the Congo 4 days ago was quarantined on suspicion of carrying the Ebola virus.
FIRST CASE
In a statement from the Israeli Ministry of Health, it was reported that the individual, who went to Rambam Hospital in Haifa 4 days ago with complaints of fever and headache, is the first case to be quarantined on suspicion of Ebola.
The statement noted that test results will be available within 48 hours and that contact tracing efforts have been initiated to identify individuals who had contact with the person quarantined on suspicion of Ebola.
Israeli state television KAN shared footage of the moments when emergency service teams who intervened with the suspect were being disinfected.
DEATH TOLL EXCEEDS 200
The Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) announced that the death toll from the Ebola outbreak declared in May in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has exceeded 200.
EBOLA OUTBREAK
After 246 suspected cases and 65 deaths in Ituri province in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), an outbreak was declared in the country on May 15.
The WHO declared an international public health emergency on May 17 due to the re-emerging Ebola outbreak.
According to health officials, the current outbreak is caused by a rare variant of Ebola, the "Bundibugyo" virus, for which there is no confirmed treatment or vaccine.
