A pickup truck crashed into a taxi stand in Çorlu, Tekirdağ, at midnight. No one was injured in the incident, which left the taxi stand in ruins, while the pickup truck involved left the scene.
PICKUP TRUCK CRASHED INTO THE TAXI STAND
At around 02:00 AM, a pickup truck circling the roundabout on Salhane Street (Historic Borsa Square) in Cemaliye Neighborhood crashed into the taxi stand located on the sidewalk, completely destroying it.
THE STAND WAS DESTROYED, THE DRIVER FLED
Thanks to the absence of anyone at the taxi stand at the time of the incident, a disaster was averted. The stand was shattered due to the violent impact. The pickup truck driver fled the scene.
Nadir Samancı, the President of the Çorlu Drivers and Automobile Association, who visited the taxi stand tradesmen to express his condolences regarding the accident, said, "An incident occurred late at night. We do not know the reason, but it is truly a sad situation. Our taxi drivers are already struggling here. Fortunately, there was no one at the stand at that time. There could have been taxi drivers inside, and there were gas cylinders that could have exploded. We came here and we stand by our taxi drivers; we will support them."
THE TAXI STAND'S WINDOWS HAD BEEN BROKEN BEFORE
Taxi drivers also reacted to the pickup truck driver's fleeing the scene. Taxi stand officer Ural Uluğ stated, "We have no issues with anyone. We do not know the reason. It saddened us that the vehicle left the scene after crashing. They had broken the stand's windows before as well," he said. Uluğ mentioned that he has not yet filed a complaint regarding the incident.
