Fifteen people, including Representative Diogenes Quintero Amaya, died in a small plane crash in Colombia.
No one survived from the 15 people on the plane that crashed in Colombia. Among the victims was Representative Diogenes Quintero Amaya.
FARMERS FOUND THE WRECKAGE
George Quintero, Secretary of Citizen Security of Norte de Santander, stated in an interview with Noticias Caracol television that the wreckage of the plane was found by farmers in the village of Curasica, near the town of La Playa.
SEARCH AND RESCUE TEAMS IN THE AREA
Quintero emphasized that 13 passengers and 2 crew members lost their lives in the crash and said that a large number of search and rescue teams have been dispatched to the area.
NOBODY SURVIVED
Norte de Santander Governor William Villamizar stated in a press release that "Unfortunately, we have to report that the small plane was found above a protected area in the town of La Playa. We received the first images, and it appears that there are no survivors. 7 bodies have been found, and searches are ongoing for the others."
A MEMBER OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES WAS ALSO ON BOARD
Among the deceased is Representative Diogenes Quintero Amaya, known as the voice of the displaced victims in the Catatumbo region.
The Beech 1900D aircraft belonging to Satena, a company of Colombia's State Airlines, had disappeared from radar near the town of La Playa de Belen in the Norte de Santander region.
It was reported that the plane was heading to the city of Ocana in the Norte de Santander administrative region and was scheduled to land at 12:10 local time under normal conditions.
