A tourist who rebelled against the exorbitant prices in Alaçatı through a video posted on social media explained the amounts they paid one by one and issued warnings. The young woman stated that she had no objections to the high prices of luxury venues, but that basic food and beverage costs had spiraled out of control, saying that a sandwich was 670 TL, a portion of french fries was 375 TL, and a lemon sorbet was 500 TL, expressing her reaction with the words, "Do not come to Alaçatı, the situation is terrible."
A citizen vacationing in Alaçatı, the famous holiday resort of Izmir, reacted to exorbitant prices and taxi fares with a video posted on social media. Comparing with Antalya and Bodrum, the holidaymaker complained, saying 'Don't come to Alaçatı.'
With the start of the summer season, high prices in holiday resorts have become a topic of debate again. A holidaymaker who went to Alaçatı in Izmir rebelled by sharing their experience and the astronomical amounts they paid on their social media account.
'1 SANDWICH 670 TL, ICE CREAM 500 TL'
Stating that they had come to Alaçatı before and also vacationed in Antalya and Bodrum this year, the holidaymaker described the pricing policy in Alaçatı as 'terrible.' Noting they have no objection to expensive luxury venues but even ordinary food and drink costs have spiraled out of control, the holidaymaker said:
'I have no complaint about expensive luxury restaurants. But in Alaçatı, the moment you say 'Let me not go hungry, let me fill my stomach,' an ordinary sandwich is 670 TL, tomato pasta 300 TL, and french fries 375 TL. Even lemon sorbet sold in markets costs 500 TL here. Last night, I paid 500 TL for a plain toast. On my first day arriving from the airport to Alaçatı, I spent 3,500 TL by 3:00 PM.'
'BEACHES HAVE A 3,000 TL SPENDING LIMIT'
Also touching on the spending limits at beach clubs, the holidaymaker complained about the inadequacy of the service received for the money paid:
'At the beach you go to, there's a 3,000 TL spending limit, and you pay that anyway. But for 3,000 TL, you can only get a latte and a hamburger, and that's how your day goes. You sit all day for this price, but there's nothing in return.'
WATCH OUT FOR TAXI DRIVERS
Sharing the taxi fares and their argument with taxi drivers, the holidaymaker warned those coming to Alaçatı to track their kilometers:
'Taxis are a different story. I fought with the first taxi driver I got into. Here, the taximeter shows 66 TL per kilometer, keep that in mind. I traveled 10 kilometers; while it should have cost 700 TL including the base fare and distance, they asked for 1,200 TL. Make sure to measure your kilometers.'
'ANTALYA AND BODRUM WERE IN MUCH BETTER SHAPE'
In conclusion, the holidaymaker warned those considering coming to Alaçatı, saying, 'Are you waiting to rip people off and send them away? Antalya and Bodrum were in much better shape. If you have plans to come to Alaçatı, I think you should think twice.'
