TRUCK DRIVER TAKEN INTO CUSTODY The accident occurred in the Dursunlu neighborhood of the Defne district. The Isuzu-brand truck with license plate 31 ALM 612, loaded with sand, failed to climb the slope and slid backward. The truck, whose driver lost control of the steering wheel, went out of control and crashed into the apartment building's garden. Sakine Altınöz, 65, a mother of 10 children who was picking figs in the garden at the time of the accident, was trapped under the truck and lost her life. In the accident, which was reflected moment by moment on security cameras, Altınöz's lifeless body, who died crushed under the truck, was recovered by fire department teams. The footage shows the sand-loaded truck failing to climb the slope and then sliding backward and crashing into the apartment building's garden. The truck driver was taken into custody regarding the incident, while Altınöz's relatives requested solutions from authorities for the slope and its surroundings in the area.
"TRUCK THAT COULDN'T CLIMB THE SLOPE SLID BACKWARD AND OVERTURNED INTO THE GARDEN, MY MOTHER WAS TRAPPED UNDER THE TRUCK" Çiğdem Tüğer, the child of the elderly woman who lost her life in the accident, said a retaining wall should be built in the area where the truck crashed, stating, "The truck that couldn't climb the slope slid backward and overturned into the garden, and my mother was trapped under the truck. The loss falls on my mother from the road below, and my mother passed away. My mother was 65 years old and we are 10 siblings. My mother's grandchildren play ball here, so it could have fallen on those children too. I feel very bad, who will account for this? It's an indescribable pain."
