The biggest fuel price cut in recent months is coming.

04.08.2026 09:10

Expectations that negotiations between the US and Iran could resume have pulled oil prices down. According to sector sources, unless there is a last-minute change in calculations, a reduction of 6 lira 60 kurus in the liter price of diesel is expected to take effect as of Wednesday. If this happens, the diesel price will fall below 75 TL again.

The expectation that Washington and Tehran could return to the negotiating table for an agreement pulled oil prices down. According to fuel sector sources, following this decline in oil, a significant reduction is expected in the diesel price per liter, effective from Wednesday.

THE BIGGEST DISCOUNT OF THE RECENT PERIOD

According to information obtained from fuel sector sources, unless there is a last-minute change in calculations, one of the highest discounts in diesel prices in recent months will occur.

DIESEL TO DROP BY 6 LIRA 60 KURUS PER LITER

A discount of 6 lira 60 kurus will be applied to the diesel price per liter. The discount is expected to be valid from 00:01 on Wednesday, August 5 (midnight Tuesday into Wednesday). After this decrease, diesel prices are expected to fall below the 75 lira level.

No information has been shared at this stage regarding any expected change in gasoline prices.

CURRENT FUEL PRICES:

ISTANBUL (EUROPE)

Diesel: 81.02 TL

Gasoline: 67.24 TL

ISTANBUL (ANATOLIAN)

Diesel: 80.87 TL

Gasoline: 67.08 TL

ANKARA

Diesel: 82.14 TL

Gasoline: 68.20 TL

IZMIR

Diesel: 82.42 TL

Gasoline: 68.50 TL

REASONS FOR THE PRICE DECLINE

The expectation that tension between the US and Iran could decrease and the parties could return to the negotiating table alleviated concerns about energy supply. The possibility that risks to the security of the Strait of Hormuz, through which oil shipments are made, would decrease increased the downward pressure on prices in the markets. The US's previous temporary suspension of some sanctions on Iranian oil and contacts between the parties led to expectations that global supply would strengthen.

HOW ARE PUMP PRICES DETERMINED?

In Turkey, fuel prices are calculated not only based on the Brent oil level but also by taking into account product prices in the Mediterranean market and the exchange rate. Therefore, a decline in diesel prices in international markets can be directly reflected in pump prices.
