AK Party Deputy Chairman Efkan Ala, at a meeting he attended in Bursa, made striking warnings to his party’s executives and public officials about the period when former minister Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya was arrested. Stating that an action being legal alone is not sufficient, AK Party Deputy Chairman Ala said that those who act contrary to the AK Party’s moral principles have no place in the party.

AK Party Deputy Chairman Efkan Ala delivered messages on politics, public administration and intra-party discipline at a program in Bursa where he met with the AK Party organization. Stating that the people President Erdoğan trusts must act much more carefully, AK Party Deputy Chairman Ala said that no concessions would be made on the protection of public resources.

"WHOEVER DOES WRONG CANNOT FIND SHELTER IN THE AK PARTY"

Attending the AK Party Bursa Provincial Presidency 67th Provincial Advisory Council Meeting and Youth Academy program held at the Merinos Atatürk Congress and Culture Center, Ala stated that during the period when former minister Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya was arrested, his party's stance toward those who do wrong was clear. Saying that those who do wrong in politics are removed from the party, while those serving in the bureaucracy are dismissed from their posts, Ala used the following expressions: "You see, we make no distinction. There is no distinction in positive matters either. We want every young person of ours to unite around these positive developments and goals. There is no distinction regarding those who do wrong either. Whoever does it, we do not defend them; if they are in politics, we remove them. If they are in the bureaucracy, we dismiss them. For anyone who does wrong, we put forth an absolutely clear and open will for their punishment, starting with our President, all our cadres. It is that simple. We guarantee, assure and commit to our nation that we will put forth a high-level will for everyone who does wrong to be punished. There is no hesitation here. Whoever does wrong will face their punishment, in the state. Whoever does wrong, whoever betrays what is entrusted, cannot remain in the AK Party anyway. There is no place for them in the AK Party."

HE TOOK AIM AT THE OPPOSITION OVER MUNICIPALITIES

Recalling that the founding philosophy of the AK Party includes the fight against poverty, corruption and prohibitions, AK Party Deputy Chairman Efkan Ala criticized the opposition's approach to municipal administrators facing judicial processes. Stating that his own party does not defend those who do wrong, AK Party Deputy Chairman Efkan Ala argued that the opposition, by contrast, protects these people. AK Party Deputy Chairman Efkan Ala continued his criticism with these words: "Whoever acts contrary to these will face political sanctions and legal punishment, but we look at the opposition: even if they themselves have devastated and squandered the municipalities entrusted to them by the nation, even if they are being tried, instead of rejecting them and saying, 'We expelled these people from politics,' they trail after them, roam square to square and defend them in Turkey. They defend both those wrongs and those who committed them. This is the big difference. Therefore, in this important period that Turkey needs, we must work in such a way to achieve those important goals that we merge night into day."

"IF YOU SEEK TO SERVE THE STATE, YOU CANNOT SEEK WEALTH"

In the most striking part of his speech, AK Party Deputy Chairman Efkan Ala addressed those seeking public office and stated that staying within legal limits is not enough and that moral principles must also be observed. He particularly drew attention to the responsibility of people in President Erdoğan's close working circle. Ala used the following expressions: "The people we trust, whom our President trusts and with whom he works closely, must act with extreme care. Within the AK Party, you seek a role in politics; even if something is legal, if it is not in line with AK Party principles and morality, if it is not permissible, you cannot do it, you must not do it. If you seek to serve the state and administration, if you say, 'I will do the public's work,' then whether it is a position or authority or a budget that the public entrusts to you, you must protect it like your own eye. If you seek to serve the state, you cannot seek wealth, you must not. Especially, there is no place in AK Party policies for these to be obtained through immoral means and in a manner contrary to conscience. Therefore, we look at who did what, how they did it, and what they did before that. Whoever it is, if they have done wrong, we want them punished; if they have done right, we want their path opened. Our policy here is clear, open and transparent."

HE ALSO WARNED YOUNG POLITICIANS

Addressing young people who are new to politics in the AK Party, AK Party Deputy Chairman Efkan Ala emphasized that merely complying with party principles is not enough and that people who take on duties must inspire confidence in society. "You will contribute here. Merely complying is not enough either. Your taking charge of a matter must give the nation this confidence: 'Yes, if these people are taking charge of the matter, even if there is a loophole in the law, they will not be involved in any wrongdoing. If they are, it has nothing to do with the AK Party.' Because can those with small goals, who chase small interests, reach those great goals?"

Stressing the importance of young people participating in politics without neglecting their education, Ala spoke as follows: "Of course, you will fulfill your work and your school. You will spend the necessary time on your education. By allocating a little of your time and a part of your mind—but also all of your heart—you will participate in the governance of the country. That is not enough; you will share these things with your friends and ask them to contribute to governance and politics."
