Mustafa Onur Özgenç, 30, who went spearfishing in the Amasra district of Bartın, was hospitalized after nearly drowning. Despite all interventions, he lost his life.

In the Amasra district of Bartın, Mustafa Onur Özgenç (30), who experienced a drowning risk while diving to spearfish, could not be saved despite treatment at the hospital.

The incident occurred yesterday evening on the shore below the Turkish Hard Coal Enterprises (TTK) lodgings. Mustafa Onur Özgenç, who went out to sea from the rocky area on the shore wearing special gear to spearfish, did not resurface for a long time. Those fishing with rods in the area noticed the situation and notified the 112 Emergency Call Center. Upon the report, the DEGAK-3 diver team from the Coast Guard Western Black Sea Group Command arrived at the scene and found Özgenç unconscious at a depth of 15 meters, approximately 10 meters from where he was last seen. 

COULD NOT BE SAVED DESPITE ALL INTERVENTIONS

Mustafa Onur Özgenç was taken to Amasra State Hospital, and after initial treatment there, he was transferred to Bartın State Hospital. Despite all efforts, Özgenç passed away today towards dawn.

It was learned that Mustafa Onur Özgenç also worked as a football referee in Bartın. His body will be sent to his hometown of Erdemli district in Mersin after the autopsy.
