More than 900 venomous snakes escaped from snake farms due to floods caused by Typhoon Maysak in China. Farmers caught the venomous snakes in floodwaters with their bare hands.
Typhoon Maysak, which was effective in China, caused floods in many parts of the country. In Hengzhou city, Guangxi province, the overflow of two dams submerged numerous residential areas.
OVER 900 VENOMOUS SNAKES ESCAPED
During the flood that hit the region, more than 900 snakes, including venomous ones, escaped from snake breeding farms. Many people bitten by snakes were hospitalized. Antivenom stocks have been increased in hospitals in Hengzhou.
Authorities warned that the escaped snakes could take shelter in houses, stairwells, building corners, and riverbanks, urging citizens not to intervene with the snakes.

Local residents and farmers working at snake farms tried to catch the escaped snakes in the floodwaters.

38 PEOPLE DIED ACROSS THE COUNTRY
It was reported that 38 people lost their lives across the country due to floods and landslides caused by Typhoon Maysak, while 6 people are unaccounted for. In a landslide in Gansu province, 21 people died; in Hubei province, 11; and in Guangxi province, 6 people lost their lives.
Chinese President Xi Jinping ordered that rescue efforts be carried out "with all means" in the areas affected by floods and landslides.
