In TAKSIM, a shuttle minibus driven by Mehmet Eren A. (27) collided with a car coming from the opposite direction. According to the allegation, after the accident, Mehmet Eren A. told 2 people in the car that he was drunk and would lose his job, asking them not to call the police. These people, who forced Mehmet Eren A. into their vehicle, took him to a house and beat him. The suspects made Mehmet Eren A. withdraw 40,000 lira in cash advance from his online banking account and had his older brother transfer 40,000 lira, then released him. The suspects Burak P. (27) and Hüseyin S. (22), caught by police teams, were arrested for the crime of 'Robbery'.
The incident occurred around 05:00 on Saturday, October 24. According to information obtained, Mehmet Eren A., driving a shuttle minibus in Beyoğlu Taksim, allegedly collided head-on with a car coming from the opposite direction. After the damaging accident, those in the car wanted to call the police. According to the suspects' claim, Mehmet Eren A. said he was drunk and would lose his job if traffic police came, asking the other party not to call the police.

After the accident, the suspects forced Mehmet Eren A. into their vehicle and took him to a house in Şişli Mecidiyeköy Neighborhood. The suspects beat the driver they held there and, taking his phone from him, made him withdraw a 40,000-lira cash advance. Then they asked Mehmet Eren A.'s older brother to transfer 40,000 lira as well. The suspects, who transferred a total of 80,000 lira to their accounts, left the driver by vehicle near a shopping mall.
IDENTIFIED HIM FROM A PHOTOGRAPH
After being released, Mehmet Eren A. went to Kuştepe Police Station and filed a complaint. He told how those in the car involved in the accident forced him into the vehicle, and that he was beaten and his money was taken at the house he was taken to. Upon the complaint, teams from the Şişli Public Order Branch Directorate launched an investigation. The teams identified the license plate of the car involved in the accident and reached the identities of Burak P. and Hüseyin S. It was determined that Burak P. lived in the house where the driver was taken. Mehmet Eren A. identified Burak P. from a photograph shown to him.
2 SUSPECTS ARRESTED
The teams caught Burak P. and Hüseyin S., who was determined to have been driving the vehicle during the incident. The suspects, taken into custody, were taken to the police station after medical checks. It was learned that Burak P. had 13 and Hüseyin S. had 2 prior police records. After procedures at the police station, the 2 suspects were referred to the courthouse and were arrested by the court on the charge of 'Robbery' (extortion).
