"WE HAVE ENDED OUR PROTEST"

Speaking in front of the Ministry of Interior, President of the Independent Mine Workers' Union Gökay Çakır stated that the meeting went positively and said:

"Most of our friends' salaries have been paid. They asked us for 15 days. The Ministry of Labor and Social Security, the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, the Ministry of Interior, and the Ankara Police Chief also adopted this guarantee. As of now, we have ended our protest.

All rights of friends who want to resign or who are entitled to severance pay will be paid within 15 days, the company has promised this. But friends who want to continue working will not benefit from these rights; they will only receive their salaries. However, if someone says, 'I will make a mutual agreement with the employer and take my severance,' then everyone's severance will be paid within 15 days. We will not leave any of our workers victimized."

THEY GAVE FLOWERS TO THE POLICE

Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi also made a statement after the resolution of the crisis. Çiftçi said: "The end of the miners' protest, which continued for days in Ankara, with common sense and courtesy has created a meaningful picture for all of us.

The fact that our workers ended their protest by giving flowers to the police is one of the most beautiful manifestations of the respect, dignity, and spirit of unity inherent in our nation.

With the understanding of 'Give the worker his due before his sweat dries,' protecting the rights of labor, strengthening social justice, and ensuring that every citizen lives a dignified life is our common responsibility. I thank all parties who contributed to this process where common sense prevailed."
