The Istanbul Stock Exchange was rising around 11,000 points in March. However, the BIST 100 Index started the day in the negative following today's operational news. The BIST 100 Index closed yesterday at 10,800 points, while it started the day with a 6.87% drop at 10,060 points.

SHARP DROP AFTER ARRESTS

As part of the investigation by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, many people, including Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and his advisor Murat Ongun, were detained. The number of people against whom detention orders were issued for crimes such as 'being a leader or member of a criminal organization', 'bribery', 'qualified fraud', 'illegally obtaining personal data', and 'interfering with a tender' has reached 100.

SHARPEST DROP IN COMMUNICATION

While a decline was observed in the Istanbul Stock Exchange Futures and Options Market (VİOP) during last night's session, today, the April futures contract based on the BIST 30 index started the day with a 3.9% drop at 11,930.00 points. The stock market opened lower, and a circuit breaker was applied. The BIST 100 Index also started the day with a 6.87% drop at 10,060 points. The banking index lost 7.02% and the holding index lost 6.69%. While all sector indices declined, the communication sector suffered the most with a loss of 7.56%. As a result of the losses exceeding 5% in the BIST 100 index at the opening, a circuit breaker linked to the index was activated.
