Citizens have started to leave their country in Lebanon, where Israel has increased its airstrikes and a ground offensive is also on the agenda. Due to security reasons, Turkish Airlines (THY) and Pegasus have canceled their flights, and citizens in the capital Beirut are coming to Turkey via Middle East Airlines' flights to Istanbul, which continue their operations. Lebanese citizens arriving in Istanbul are then going to visit their relatives in Europe.
"PEOPLE ARE WATCHING IN HORROR WHAT IS HAPPENING"
Responding to journalists' questions at Istanbul Airport, Lebanese citizens said, "Lebanon is in a very bad situation right now. There have been many explosions in Beirut over the past few days. People are watching in horror what is happening. We need international aid and prayers for our country," they said.
"WE WANT LEBANON TO BE A SAFE COUNTRY"
Lebanese journalist Lina jihaab, who said she came to Istanbul after the events in Beirut, stated, "The situation in Beirut is not good after the recent events. As everyone knows, there are a few safe areas in Lebanon. Even though I live there, I preferred to come to Istanbul. I will stay here for a few days and follow what is happening on television. Hopefully, the Lebanese army will be everywhere in the country, and we will return. We also want Lebanon to be a safe country like other countries in the world," she said.
