The tourist district of Çeşme in İzmir has been affected by heavy downpours. Following the meteorological yellow code warning, the thunderstorm and heavy rain caused streets and avenues to be flooded. Images were recorded of the sea level rising and spilling onto the land. Homes and businesses were inundated, and drivers struggled to navigate through the accumulated water. The meteorology department stated that the downpour is expected to continue throughout the day and that citizens should be cautious of floods and water inundations.
The heavy rain that affected the tourist district of Çeşme in İzmir once again highlighted the infrastructure problems. After the rain, which fell in a short time, the sea and land almost merged, streets and avenues turned into rivers, and many businesses were flooded.

After the incidents, citizens reacted to the municipality, arguing that insufficient investment had been made in infrastructure. In videos shared on social media, it was emphasized that similar scenes occur with every downpour, calling for a permanent solution.

Due to the flooding, many businesses suffered material damage, while shopkeepers tried to drain the water with their own means. It was also observed that some vehicles had difficulty moving due to the accumulated water on the roads.
HARSH WORDS FROM THE AK PARTY DISTRICT CHAIRMAN
AK Party Çeşme District Chairman Pınar Ayyıldız Özen reacted harshly to the district turning into a disaster area after the short rain. Özen stated, "Just two days ago, in the Municipal Council, CHP member Lal Denizli, who leaves no coal on the grill, is unable to manage Çeşme, and today the situation of the tradesmen and citizens is evident. I send my best wishes to my fellow citizens of Çeşme who have been affected by the floods and inundations."
Due to the damaged roads and infrastructure problems that have not been resolved for years, the people of Çeşme are once again at their wit's end.
