A woman working at a currency exchange office in Eskişehir allegedly gave a customer who wanted to exchange 400 euros the Turkish lira equivalent of 500 euros by mistake. Realizing her error later, the employee stated that she overpaid 5,160 liras and requested the money be returned. The employee, who said the loss would be deducted from her salary otherwise, made an appeal to the customer.

On Sunday, a male customer came to a currency exchange office located on Köprübaşı Street in the Arifiye Neighborhood of Odunpazarı district in Eskişehir, wanting to exchange 400 euros, according to the employee's claim. Lütfiye Topkaya, a 33-year-old employee who had exchanged 500 euros in the previous transaction, had a momentary lapse of attention.

GAVE 100 EUROS EXTRA

Topkaya, who asked the customer, 'Were you going to exchange 500 euros?', allegedly received confirmation from the other party with a nod. Upon this, Topkaya took 400 euros and gave the customer Turkish Lira equivalent to 500 euros, realizing her mistake a short while later. Topkaya, who gave 5,160 TL extra, stated that she thought the customer opposite her was also distracted. The employee, calling out to the customer who received the extra money, requested that the money be returned to her, noting that otherwise the loss would be deducted from her salary.

"THIS AMOUNT WILL BE DEDUCTED FROM MY SALARY, LET HIM BRING MY MONEY"

Narrating the incident, Lütfiye Topkaya said, "A gentleman came around noon on Sunday. He wanted to exchange 400 euros. But because my previous transaction was 500 euros, I put the money counting machine aside and asked, 'Is it 500 euros?'. He confirmed my question with a nod. So I exchanged and gave him the money. He looked at the bundle but probably didn't say anything because he thought he would have it recounted. Immediately after, another customer came, and I was alone inside. I couldn't go out right after him, and by the time I realized, he had already left. Since there was no contact information, I couldn't reach him, so I shared this situation on social media. When I watched the camera footage, maybe he was aware or maybe not, I don't want to comment. Perhaps it coincided with a distracted moment of his as well. I would be very happy if he realizes the mistake made. Because the mistake made here is costing me. It's a large amount of money for me. I gave 5,160 TL extra. And this amount will be deducted from my salary. Let him bring my money. He probably didn't notice; I think if he noticed, he would bring it. I would be very happy if he brings the money."
