The Montenegro-Turkey national match broadcasted on TV8 has, so to speak, gotten Acun Ilıcalı into trouble. Due to the advertisements of an illegal betting site displayed on billboards, both the prosecutor's office and RTÜK took action. President Ebubekir Şahin stated, "An investigation has been initiated by RTÜK following the end of the match, and the expert report prepared will be discussed at the next Board meeting."
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation against Acun Ilıcalı, TV8, and the officials of the Exxen digital platform regarding allegations of illegal betting advertisements and incentives, following which the Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) also intervened.
STATEMENT FROM THE RTÜK PRESIDENT
RTÜK President Ebubekir Şahin stated in a post on his social media account, "Following allegations that the broadcasting organization promoted illegal betting sites on the advertising boards during the Montenegro-Turkey match, an examination has been initiated by RTÜK at the end of the match, and the expert report prepared will be discussed at the next Supreme Council meeting," he said.
DEFENSE FROM ILICALI: ADVERTISEMENTS ARE UNDER THE CONTROL OF THE HOST COUNTRY
Acun Ilıcalı, in a statement regarding the issue, reminded that the same advertisements had also been seen in TRT broadcasts before, and stated that the control of the advertising boards in matches played abroad belongs to the federation of the host country. Ilıcalı defended himself by sharing images on social media that document this situation.

The incident occurred during the match between Turkey and Montenegro in Group 4 of the UEFA Nations League B. During the match, which was broadcast live on TV8, the presence of advertisements for illegal betting sites on the advertising boards drew significant backlash. Following this development, the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office announced that an investigation had been launched on charges of illegal betting advertisement and promotion.
