The Chair of the Turkish Grand National Assembly's Committee on Violence Against Women, Asuman Erdoğan, stated that they experience digital violence as lawmakers, saying, "Let's take a photo, and immediately someone writes 'Eat shit' underneath it."
AK Party Ankara Deputy and Chair of the Parliamentary Commission on Violence Against Women Asuman Erdoğan complained to BTK Vice President Abdulkerim Gün about digital violence.
"THEY WRITE 'EAT SHIT' UNDERNEATH"
Erdoğan expressed that they constantly experience digital violence as politicians, saying, "As deputies, we experience digital violence. The comments written under our posts are incredibly violent. It is a topic we are very troubled about. We take a photo here, and immediately underneath, there are very strange things starting with 'Eat shit.' It's very annoying. What should we do about this?"
"BLOCK THOSE PEOPLE"
BTK Vice President Gün responded to Erdoğan's question, saying, "Unfortunately, we cannot go anywhere with this issue at the moment. We receive more than three thousand calls a day at 'internetyardim.org.tr' and Alo 141. First of all, we stay calm and never respond. We provide guidance to the person in panic. Generally, the aim of cyberbullying is to provoke you into responding. Save the evidence, immediately take screenshots, and keep the messages. Block the person who is bullying you, the social network where the bullying is happening, and report it to the relevant platforms."
