In the Çayeli district of Rize, 38 Iranian tea workers brought with promises of work and work permits claimed they were attacked when they demanded their wages.

THEY CAME FROM IRAN TO WORK IN RIZE

According to the allegations, about 20 days ago, 38 Iranian workers, who came to Rize's Çayeli district with promises of job placement and work permits, were housed in inappropriate conditions at an industrial site. Although the daily tea wage is 3-4 thousand TL, the workers claim they were given only 1,100 TL.

After working for 15 days, when the workers demanded the wages they had earned, an argument broke out between them and M.Y., who allegedly found them jobs and is originally from Samsun. According to the claims, M.Y. attacked the workers with about 15 people he called by phone. Many workers were injured in the attack. The injured workers were taken to hospitals in Çayeli and central Rize for treatment.
