An 11-year-old child who fell ill during physical education class in Manisa has passed away.

11-year-old Mert Kaymak, who fainted during a physical education class in the district of Alaşehir in Manisa, lost his life. It was learned that Kaymak had a heart attack according to initial determinations.

The student Mert Kaymak, who is a student at Atatürk Middle School in Kavaklıdere neighborhood, connected to the Alaşehir district, suddenly fell to the ground while doing warm-up exercises in physical education class. Physical Education and Sports Teacher Berkay Ali Akkaya immediately intervened to the child who fell to the ground. At the same time, 112 emergency service teams were notified. Health teams who came to the school determined that Kaymak's heart had stopped and provided first aid at the scene. Kaymak was then taken to Alaşehir Private Sarıkız Hospital. Kaymak, who was brought to the hospital with his heart stopped, died despite all the interventions made there. Mert Kaymak's body was sent to İzmir Forensic Medicine Institute for autopsy.

"HE HAD NO KNOWN ILLNESS"

The grieving family accepted condolences at their home in Kavaklıdere neighborhood. The father Rıfat Kaymak, who was deeply saddened, said, "He collapsed while walking with two friends, they intervened but his heart did not respond. That's all we know. He had no known illness." An investigation has been launched regarding the incident.
