Nigerian player Victor Osimhen, who plays for the Super Lig giant Galatasaray, gave a statement to the police as part of an investigation conducted by Italy's financial police agency, Guardia di Finanza.
ALLEGATIONS OF IRREGULARITIES IN THE TRANSFER
According to a report in La Gazzetta dello Sport, Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis recently appeared before a judge due to allegations of financial irregularities in the past transfers of Osimhen and Kostas Manolas. Victor Osimhen also made striking statements to the police, claiming that he was pressured by Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis and his former agent during the transfer process. Detailing his experiences during the transfer period from Lille to Napoli, Osimhen stated that he put football on the back burner due to his father's illness at that time, emphasizing that his former agent Jean Gerard's sole purpose was to complete his transfer to Napoli.
'I WAS VERY ANGRY AT LILLE AND MY AGENT WHEN MY FATHER DIED'
Describing how Gerard called him to Nice, Osimhen said, 'They told me I would be going to Napoli, that the two clubs had reached an agreement. However, I had no knowledge of this at all. I was very angry at Lille and my agent when my father died. I couldn't see him one last time. Despite this, they told me the next day that I had to go to Napoli. I couldn't even mourn my father.'
'I ENDED MY RELATIONSHIP WITH MY AGENT'
Osimhen stated that he went to Napoli out of respect for the Lille President but did not want to sign any contract, emphasizing that the document shown to him by his agent was a 'so-called agreement,' saying, 'I got very angry, I wanted to return to France. I got permission from Lopez and went to Paris. When I returned, I ended my relationship with that agent.'
'I REACHED AN AGREEMENT WITH MY NEW AGENT'
Describing the final stages of the transfer process, Osimhen said, 'When I saw that Napoli's interest was serious, I asked for William D'Avila to handle the process. I signed the contract at Lille towards the end of July. Maurizio Micheli was there on behalf of Napoli, and from Lille, Lopez, Ingla, Calenda, and Cros were present.'
