An investigation has been launched into a brain surgeon in Austria who allowed his 13-year-old daughter to drill a hole in a patient's skull. This incident has caused a huge uproar in the medical community and public opinion. A 33-year-old man was urgently brought to Graz University Hospital with a serious head injury following an accident in the forest. According to Kronen Zeitung newspaper, the female neurosurgeon allowed her daughter to participate in the emergency surgery and drill a hole in the patient's skull. This allegation raises serious questions in terms of medical ethics. The surgery was technically successful, but an anonymous tip-off in April led to an investigation. The patient could only learn about what happened to him through the news and was shocked. The patient's lawyer, Peter Freiberger, strongly criticized the situation, stating, "You are lying there unconscious and becoming a guinea pig. This is absolutely unacceptable." Freiberger stated that they have initiated the necessary legal proceedings to protect their client's rights. Following the incident, it is reported that the surgeon and a specialist who participated in the surgery were dismissed by the hospital. This decision is interpreted as an indication of the hospital's concern for the matter. The hospital management stated that the investigation is still ongoing, but so far, no concrete evidence has been found to prove that the girl actually participated in the surgery. The management also expressed deep regret for the incident and apologized, emphasizing that they are working with all their means to fully clarify the matter.
