Images of mistreatment of animals at the Mamak Municipality's Street Animals Rehabilitation Center-Temporary Shelter have sparked a significant backlash on social media.
In the footage shared by the President of the Ankara Bar Association Animal Rights Center, Lawyer Tuğba Gürsoy, it was seen that some of the dogs in the shelter had died. Animal rights advocates called on the authorities for an urgent inspection of the shelter. The images were truly chilling.
CALL TO ÖZGÜR ÖZEL
Gürsoy stated that the shelter staff did not allow animal rights advocates inside and called on everyone, especially the CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, to visit the shelter.
Moreover, the Mamak Municipality had previously arbitrarily detained street dogs with ear tags, claiming they were "aggressive," and had filed a complaint against Lawyer Tuğba Gürsoy, who sought to protect the animals.
