King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, was targeted again by a Houthi ballistic missile attack. In the attack that hit Terminal 3 of the airport, many people were injured, the facility was evacuated, and flights were temporarily halted. While health sources claimed that at least 5 people were taken to intensive care, some airlines canceled flights to Riyadh. The airport had also been targeted two days earlier in attacks in which 3 people lost their lives.

A new missile attack on Riyadh Airport has brought air transport in Saudi Arabia to a standstill. While authorities confirmed there were injured people, all activities at the airport were temporarily suspended.

HOUTHIS TARGET RIYADH AIRPORT WITH MISSILE

The Houthis in Yemen continue their attacks on Saudi Arabia. King Khalid International Airport in the capital Riyadh was hit by a ballistic missile attack. Saudi officials announced that the attack targeted Terminal 3 of the airport and that there were people injured. After the attack, evacuation operations were launched at the airport. While a large number of ambulances were dispatched to the area, eyewitnesses reported that panic occurred in the terminal.

OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM SAUDI ARABIA

Saudi Arabia's General Authority of Civil Aviation announced that operations at the airport were temporarily halted after the attack. The statement included the following: "In today's attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, a large number of people were injured and operations at the airport were temporarily suspended."

AT LEAST 5 PEOPLE ALLEGEDLY IN INTENSIVE CARE

After the attack, information about the health condition of the injured also began to arrive. Health sources speaking to AFP claimed that at least 5 people were taken into intensive care. Eyewitnesses, meanwhile, stated that they heard at least two loud explosions around the airport.

FLIGHTS HALTED, AIRLINES CANCELED SERVICES

The missile attack also affected international air transport in Riyadh. Etihad Airways and Qatar Airways suspended some of their Riyadh-bound flights. Some flight cancellations were reported to have been extended until Monday. Airport management called on passengers to contact their airlines and check their flight status before going to the terminal.

3 PEOPLE DIED IN ATTACK TWO DAYS AGO

King Khalid International Airport had also been the target of two separate attacks on October 8. Saudi Arabia's General Directorate of Civil Aviation announced that 3 Saudi citizens lost their lives and a large number of people were injured in these attacks. In addition, in attacks on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and Abha International Airport on October 6-7, 3 people died and 36 people were injured.

AIRSTRIKES ALSO CARRIED OUT IN YEMEN

The conflicts in the region also continued in Yemen. The Houthi-affiliated Al-Masirah television reported that Saudi Arabian warplanes carried out 4 airstrikes on Sana'a International Airport.
