Details of Fenerbahçe's offer for Benfica's Greek striker Vangelis Pavlidis during the summer transfer window have emerged. It was stated that the yellow-navy blues offered a transfer fee exceeding 50 million euros for the star footballer, and offered the player an annual guaranteed salary of 8 million euros. However, it was claimed that Benfica did not allow the transfer despite the astronomical figures.
