Following the resignation of Galatasaray's second president Metin Öztürk, vice president Abdullah Kavukçu also announced his resignation.
Following the resignation of Galatasaray's second chairman Metin Öztürk, vice chairman Abdullah Kavukçu also announced that he had resigned.
In his statement regarding his resignation decision, Kavukcu used the following expressions:
"After our Board of Directors meeting held on October 27, I am deeply saddened that the mutual verbal argument between Mr. Metin Öztürk and me was conveyed to the public, especially on social media, by being distanced from its true dimensions and with exaggerated and untrue statements.
I would never wish for this argument that occurred between two executives who assumed the responsibility of serving Galatasaray, and that developed mutually, to be reflected differently from how it happened, to overshadow our club's goals, and to harm the unity and solidarity of our community.
My heart cannot accept that the name of Galatasaray, which I have placed at the center of my life and whose love and values I hold above all else, is mentioned with such arguments.
Out of my love for and responsibility toward Galatasaray, I have decided to resign from my position as a member of the Board of Directors so that personal matters do not cast even the slightest shadow over our club's peace, reputation, and goals.
I would especially like to state that my commitment to Galatasaray is not limited to any position or title, and that from now on I will continue to make every possible contribution to the success of our club.
WHAT HAD HAPPENED?
Galatasaray Second Chairman Metin Öztürk announced during the day that he had resigned from his membership on the yellow-red club's board of directors and from his board memberships in its affiliated companies due to the incidents that occurred at the board of directors meeting held on October 27.
In his statement on his social media account regarding the matter, Metin Öztürk said, "Neither my Galatasaray upbringing nor the upbringing I received from my mother and father allows me to accept the act that took place at our board of directors meeting on October 27, which turned into a physical attack and an insult to my deceased mother. As of today, I am resigning from my memberships on the Galatasaray board of directors and in affiliated companies."
