Real estate prices are jaw-dropping in Giethoorn, the fairy-tale village of the Netherlands. In the village, famous for its canals, historic houses, and atmosphere far from vehicle traffic, the value of some properties reaches up to 80 million TL.
The Netherlands' world-famous village of Giethoorn stands out with its extraordinary architecture and canals. In the settlement known as the "Fairytale Village," prices of historic houses and canal-side properties can reach millions of euros. Particularly the limited number of private residences stand out with high sale prices.
HOUSE VALUES RISE TO AS MUCH AS 80 MILLION TL
In Giethoorn, the sale prices of some private properties located on the canal side can reach levels of 1 million to 1.5 million euros. According to shared calculations, this amount corresponds to approximately 55 million to 80 million TL.
The limited number of historical structures in the village and the region's international interest are cited among the factors enlivening the real estate market.
BOATS ARE USED INSTEAD OF CARS
One of the most important features distinguishing Giethoorn from other settlements is its transportation system. It is not possible to directly reach some houses and businesses, especially in the historic center of the village, by car. Boats used on the canals and small pedestrian bridges constitute the region's characteristic means of transportation. Traditional houses with reed roofs give the village a fairytale appearance.
ITS HISTORY DATES BACK TO THE 1200s
Giethoorn's history dates back to the 13th century. The canals opened in the region in the past for peat extraction enabled the village's current appearance to form over time. The settlement, which preserves its historic texture, is today regarded as one of the most remarkable tourist spots in the Netherlands.
THE LIMITED NUMBER OF HOUSES ATTRACTS GREAT INTEREST
The village's traditional architecture and canal-side residences attract the attention of real estate buyers. In particular, houses with direct access to water, large gardens, and preserved historical features can be offered for sale at high prices. However, it is stated that prices of millions of euros do not apply to all houses in the village, and prices vary according to the location and features of the properties.
