In Istanbul’s Avcılar district, during a traffic argument in front of a school, a neighborhood market guard on duty at the school shot the parent he was arguing with in the leg.
A traffic argument in front of an elementary school in Avcılar, Istanbul, turned into an armed fight. A neighborhood market guard on duty at the school shot a parent in the leg during the fight. While the injured parent was taken to the hospital, it was claimed that the incident broke out over a parking issue.
TRAFFIC ARGUMENT IN FRONT OF SCHOOL
The incident occurred in the morning hours in front of İnönü Elementary School in the Ambarlı neighborhood of Avcılar.
According to the allegation, an argument broke out over traffic between a parent who came to drop off their child at school and a neighborhood market guard on duty at the school. The argument, which grew quickly, turned into a fight.
GUARD SHOT PARENT IN THE LEG
During the fight, the neighborhood market guard shot the parent in the leg with his gun. The injured parent was taken to the hospital and placed under treatment.
"HE FIRED TO PROTECT HIMSELF"
Ömer Kahraman, one of the parents who came to the front of the school after the incident, claimed that the argument stemmed from a vehicle parking issue.
Kahraman described what happened with these words:
"An argument breaks out among parents over parking. The guard intervenes, and they attack the guard too. He fired at one of those attacking him in order to protect himself. We also came and are waiting in front of the school. It is an incident that happened in an argument that broke out over parking."
STATEMENT FROM ISTANBUL GOVERNORSHIP
The Istanbul Governor's Office made a statement regarding the incident in front of the school in which a parent was shot in the leg by a guard. The Governor's Office reported that the parent beat the guard who intervened in the argument.
According to the Governor's Office's statement, the incident occurred around 09:15 on Friday, October 30, in front of an elementary school in the Ambarlı neighborhood. A market and neighborhood guard on duty in front of the school, G.Ö., intervened in an argument that broke out among parents over traffic.
In the statement, it was stated that M.S., one of the parties to the argument, displayed aggressive behavior after the intervention and beat guard G.Ö. It was recorded that M.S., whom the guard tried to stop with pepper spray, continued his attack and was shot in the leg and neutralized.
It was reported that M.S., who was taken to the hospital by medical teams, was not in life-threatening danger. The Governor's Office announced that M.S. had 7 criminal records for various crimes and that an investigation had been launched into the incident.
