The Ministry of Interior announced that Aydın Demirdirek, Acting Mayor of Yahşihan in Kırıkkale, who was arrested on charges of "bribery," "rigging a tender," and "aiding a criminal organization," has been suspended from duty.
In the investigation conducted by the Kırıkkale Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into Yahşihan Municipality, Aydın Demirdirek, Acting Mayor of Yahşihan Municipality in Kırıkkale, who was arrested within the scope of the crimes of “Bribery”, “Bid-rigging” and “Aiding a criminal organization”, was suspended from duty.
In a statement made by the Ministry of Interior, the following statements were included: "Aydın Demirbilek, Deputy Mayor of Yahşihan Municipality in Kırıkkale Province, upon his arrest by the decision of the Kırıkkale 2nd Criminal Judgeship of Peace dated 09.10.2026 and numbered 2026/299 within the scope of the crimes of 'bribery, bid-rigging, aiding a criminal organization', has been suspended from duty by the Ministry of Interior as a temporary measure pursuant to Article 127 of the Constitution and Article 47 of the Municipal Law No. 5393"
WHAT HAPPENED?
Within the scope of the investigation conducted by the Kırıkkale Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into Yahşihan Municipality, after the joint evaluation of the statements obtained, financial analysis reports, expert examinations, title deed and vehicle records, and the findings in zoning files, 9 suspects, including Deputy Mayor Aydın Demirdirek, were detained in an operation carried out simultaneously in 2 provinces yesterday.
After the health check, A.D., one of the suspects referred to the courthouse, was released after his statement at the prosecutor's office. Five suspects, including Demirdirek, were arrested, while 4 people were released under judicial control conditions.
Within the scope of the corruption investigation, on September 24, 35 suspects, including former mayors Ahmet Sungur and Osman Türkyılmaz, as well as deputy mayors, municipal council members, municipal employees, and businesspeople, were detained; 16 of them, including former mayors Sungur and Türkyılmaz, were arrested; 4 were placed under house arrest; and 15 were released under judicial control conditions.
