İstanbul University recently announced that it has revoked the diplomas of 28 individuals, including Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu. This decision was made due to the diploma being revoked on the grounds of "nullity" and "clear error." Among the revoked diplomas is that of Prof. Dr. Naciye Aylin Ataay Saybaşılı, the Head of the Business Administration Department at Galatasaray University.
EYES ON THE COURT
Saybaşılı, whose diploma has been revoked, will not be able to continue her position as a faculty member unless a contrary decision is made by the court. She has published numerous articles in international peer-reviewed journals and completed her doctoral education at Sorbonne University in France.
SUPPORT FROM STUDENTS
Students of Galatasaray University did not leave Prof. Dr. Naciye Aylin Ataay, the Head of the Business Administration Faculty, alone, who also had her diploma revoked alongside İmamoğlu. In a video taken after the diploma decision, it was seen that Ataay was emotional and unable to hold back her tears as her students applauded in support.
