A balcony collapsed while work was being carried out at an auto electrical shop located in an industrial site in Ümraniye, Istanbul. Three workers who fell to the ground with the collapse were injured.
A portion of the balcony of a workplace in an industrial estate in Ümraniye collapsed while work was being carried out. Three injured workers were taken to hospital.
The incident occurred at around 11:10 at an industrial estate in Yamanevler Neighborhood. A portion of the balcony on the 2nd floor of a 3-storey auto electrical shop collapsed while work was being carried out. Three workers fell to the ground as it collapsed and were injured. Fire brigade, police, and medical teams were dispatched to the scene after the report. The three injured people were taken to Ümraniye Training and Research Hospital after first aid at the scene. Police teams took security measures around the workplace, and an investigation into the incident was launched.
"IT COLLAPSED TOGETHER WITH THE WORKERS ON IT"
Muammer Kambur, a tenant at the workplace, said, "It suddenly collapsed while the workers were working upstairs. Before demolishing the balcony, they were making preparations upstairs; it collapsed all of a sudden." Neighboring shopkeeper İsmail Taşkın said, "There were already signs of collapse. Our management placed this area under protection; it went down just like that at the moment the demolition work was about to begin. It collapsed together with the personnel working on it. We have 3 injured people."
