Following the "absolute nullity" decision, Gürsel Tekin, whose trusteeship at the CHP Istanbul Provincial Directorate ended, encountered a protest at his meeting in Avcılar featuring a CHP Youth Branch banner reading "Free Istanbul, Free Turkey" and the slogan "Trustees will go, we will stay"; notably, the same banner also appeared in photos from Tekin's own social media post.
Gürsel Tekin, who was appointed as a trustee to the CHP Istanbul Provincial Headquarters by a court decision and was forced to leave his position by a subsequent "absolute nullity" ruling, was protested by his own party's youth branch in Avcılar.
LARGE BANNER HUNG ON THE BUILDING
Members of the CHP Avcılar Youth Branch hung a large banner reading "Free Istanbul, Free Turkey" on the building directly opposite the hall where Gürsel Tekin was holding a meeting. After the banner was hung, party youths gathered in the street chanted slogans referencing Tekin's trustee process, shouting "Trustees will leave, we will stay!" The slogans echoing in the street caused tense moments around the meeting.
PROTEST BANNER ALSO APPEARED IN HIS OWN PHOTO
Following the protest, CHP Avcılar Youth Branch President Umut Baran Sonbahar shared videos and photos of the action on his social media account.
The most striking detail of the incident occurred on Gürsel Tekin's own social media account. In the photos he shared with his followers regarding the meeting in Avcılar, Tekin did not notice the protest banner hung against him and included it in his post.
